Cabinet Meeting Update (07/01/20)

It’s been announced that Babergh DC have delayed the decision on parking charges in Hadleigh for a month, so the proposal can be discussed at full council. This has happened because the petition started by Steven Laing and so ably promoted by Suzi Wright attracted just under 1200 signatures, and therefore had to be considered formally. This is a brilliant result as it means that our Hadleigh councillors will be involved in the debate (as they wouldn’t have been if it had been decided by the cabinet). We are still in the running, with a better chance of stopping this now.

It doesn’t unfortunately mean that the battle is won, but it shows that the united voice of our town does matter. So thank you to everyone who has written or emailed BDC councillors, or who signed the petition - but especially to the people who ran and promoted it.

Due to this delay there's still time to add your name to the petition

It has come to light that Babergh District Council's cabinet (on which Hadleigh is not represented) will be considering a proposal to introduce short term parking charges in our town at its meeting on 7th January. Hadleigh Town Council has not been officially informed of this and no one in Hadleigh has been consulted.
